Join us in MNL 325 as we discuss the historical monograph Out of the House of Bondage: The Transformation of the Plantation Household with its author, Dr. Thavolia Glymph, Professor of History at Duke University. Out of the House of Bondage explores the politics of domesticity within the plantation setting and the power struggles between white mistresses and enslaved Black women within it.
Dr. Glymph is visiting as part of the Kansas City Monuments Coalition (KCMC) speaker series in partnership with the Kansas City Public Library.
